Astronomy w/ the Western Colorado Astronomy Club - Preserving Dark Night Skies of the Grand Valley In-Person

Dark night skies have been mankind's legacy since our earliest days on planet Earth. Dark skies play a crucial role in human and animal health and well being. The Grand Valley of Western Colorado and surrounding areas has the opportunity to preserve the dark night skies that are part of our legacy and that are so important to our community. There are many opportunities to be had for areas that choose to preserve their dark night skies including tourism for nature lovers, astro-tourism, cost savings to businesses and municipalities, enhancement of good neighbor relations and more.

Education is key to create awareness of this ever increasing problem as well as to create solutions that will work for the entire community.
Representatives from the Colorado National Monument as well as the International Dark Sky Association are expected to join members of the Western Colorado Astronomy Club and interested members of the public to create a positive, win-win strategy that will support the preservation of our dark skies here in the Grand Valley. The program will be followed by the business portion of the meeting. Snacks will be served.

Learn about astronomy at our monthly meetup with members of the Western Colorado Astronomy Club. A different topic is featured monthly.
