Nuisance Invaders in Colorado Homes In-Person

Arachnids! Cockroaches! Elm Seed Bugs! Flies! Oh my!

Our homes are a part of the greater Colorado ecosystem. As a result, we have the possibility that “nuisance invaders” will show up out of the blue. During this presentation, Colorado State University Extension local entomologist, Melissa Schreiner,  will cover over a dozen nuisance invaders. Join us to gain a further understanding of the various indoor invasions by arthropods and learn about their biology, bizarre behaviors, and identifying features of some of the most common species of arthropods that act as nuisance invaders within Colorado homes.

Presenter bio:

Well-versed in both Colorado crop production and insect identification, Melissa Schreiner (otherwise called Mel), feels fortunate to be able to coalesce her interests with her passion for entomology and teaching. Mel works as part of the Tri-River Area CSU Extension team where she supports the program by serving as their entomologist. Her work takes her all over western Colorado and in this position, she provides educational opportunities supporting entomology and pest management needs in the western region. Mel assists the Tri-River Area with provisioning insect and plant damage diagnostics and solving agricultural, urban, public health, and natural resource pest management issues. Mel has been a CSU ram (aggie) since 2012, completing both her degrees from their College of Agricultural Sciences.
