Armchair Travel: Adventures in Hong Kong

Armchair Travel: Adventures in Hong Kong In-Person

With 7.5 million people, you'd think that a visit to Hong Kong is all about big city life. Certainly Hong Kong has many towering buildings, transportation zipping here and there, shopping galore and it is home to over 65 billionaires.  But Hong Kong territory is about 40% green space and nature preserves. During their spring 2018 visit, Janice Shepherd and her husband enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong's city life but they also enjoyed several nature hikes through thick green forests and out to rocky sea coasts.

Janice Shepherd is an avid hiker and advocate for public lands. The Shepherds have lived in Grand Junction since the end of 2002. She recognizes that time spent in natural places provides an important balance for those of us living in cities. She volunteers for the Bureau of Land Management as a way of giving back for the many enjoyable hours she's spent hiking on BLM managed land. Well, that and because many of the volunteer hours involve ... hiking.

Co-hosted by the Newcomer's Club. Seating is limited.
