Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls (an eight-week course) In-Person

Join experienced trainers from Aging and Disability Resources for Colorado (ADRC) for an eight-week course to prevent falls. The training aims to create habits and routines for older adults to prevent falls. The program is made up of exercises suited to fall prevention, as well as educational activities (e.g., handbook, videos, conversations, a guest speaker). All exercises can be modified to fit each individual's needs.

Trainers are Amber Creek and Kathryn Vanderberg. Amber has been with ADRC for three years and is a case manager for Home Connections, a home-based program providing services for people 60 years and older, and Veteran Directed Care, a consumer-directed, home-based services program. Amber enjoys working with the senior population and providing tools to help people age in place safely and independently. Kathryn has been with ADRC for two years and is the single entry point liaison, a position that helps Long Term Medicaid applicants gather the financial documents necessary for eligibility.

The program is targeted to people 60 years or older and is limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is required via the Event Calendar at mesacountylibraries.org (on the May 14 event) or by calling 970-243-4442. Participants should plan to attend all eight weeks of the training.
