About the Artist:
Pavia Justinian is a Colorado mixed media sculptor with award-winning work featured in public art programs throughout the state and held in private collections across the Southwest. Pavia is an acclaimed Colorado artist. She has been featured in regional radio and print publications, received art commissions from the City of Grand Junction and private collectors, and has been invited to participate in numerous exhibitions throughout the Southwest. She apprenticed with sculptor Dave Davis, founder of the Grand Junction Art on the Corner exhibit, and had the rare opportunity to develop under his tutelage. Pavia's use of unusual and novel media - including salvaged chrome, cement, and rusted old metals - is perhaps the most evident connection to her mentor. Pavia builds colorful sculptures with painted and concrete-textured epoxy, scrap metal, mosaic glass and found objects. She weaves unique materials together seamlessly with distinctive techniques and masterful craftsmanship. Her process involves a bit of everything - metalwork, additive sculpture, mosaic tiling, and colorful brushwork. Pavia cherishes Colorado's natural beauty and is inspired every day by the vivid mountain sunsets and the rich desert reds near her home. She believes in the capacity of art to positively impact her community and strives to expand the presence of the arts throughout the Western Slope.
