The River of Sorrows: Film Showing and Discussion

The River of Sorrows: Film Showing and Discussion In-Person

Join Mesa County Libraries and media production company Rig to Flip for a film showing of The River of Sorrows, a film featuring the adventures of two packrafters as they travel into the wild canyons and explore the conflict around the Dolores River. The Dolores River was once regarded as one of the top three river trip adventures in North America and is now one of the most imperiled rivers in the Colorado River Basin. The River of Sorrows takes a deep dive into the nuanced and complicated issues of the Dolores River including climate change, overallocation and agriculture, recreation, Tribal water rights, and more.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring local water experts Cody Perry, Scott Braden, and Hannah Holm. For more information on our panelists, visit the Mesa County Libraries blog
