Amateur Astronomy for Beginners (Palisade Branch)

Amateur Astronomy for Beginners (Palisade Branch) In-Person

Join Nancy McGuire, president of the Western Colorado Astronomy Club and longtime amateur astronomer, for a presentation on 10 easy steps that will enable people with an interest in the night sky to become amateur astronomers. It's easy, inexpensive, fun, and you don't have to own a telescope to start!

If you are interested in an American Sign Language interpreter at no charge for this event, call or email us two weeks before the event: 970-243-4442 or ask@mcpld.org. We cannot guarantee an interpreter with less than two weeks’ notice.

Seating is limited - We will begin seating 15 minutes prior to the event.

A longtime amateur astronomer, Nancy McGuire is now the Western Colorado Astronomy Club president and a member of three other astronomy clubs. She participates in Western Colorado Astronomy Club and Colorado National Monument public night sky viewing events, and educational outreach events at Grand Mesa Observatory. Nancy has recently become involved in dark sky advocacy and hopes that someday everyone in the Grand Valley will be able to see the Milky Way at night. She loves to write and does so for articles for local organizations’ newsletters and other local publications, as well as writing educational astronomy presentations.
