About the Author
Local author, Bill Haggerty, a native of Colorado, moved to Grand Junction in 1977. He was a sportswriter for the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel before working in marketing and promotions for Marmot Mountain Works. He was hired by the Colorado Division of Wildlife in 1980 and remained its Information/Education Specialist for more than two decades, spawning the infamous "Bill's Backyard," on local television, a wildlife program that aired weekly for nearly 18 years here in the valley. Haggerty wrote a hiking column in the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel for 13 years following that. He obtained his brokers license in 2005 and works in the Financial Services industry while continuing to write about and photograph the landscapes and wildlife of Western Colorado and beyond.
