Instead of tossing your tree trimmings, grass clippings and table scraps, compost them in your own backyard! Composting, Mother Nature's way of recycling, is an easy way to reduce your impact on the Earth while creating a valuable soil amendment for your yard. Amber Swasey, Operations Manager for Mesa County Solid Waste Management, will talk about the pros and cons of composting with bins, boxes and red wiggler worms including:

  • The recipe for successful composting
  • How to avoid and correct bin problems
  • Ways of incorporating compost into your landscaping

Amber Swasey has been employed with Mesa County Sold Waste Management since February 2007. In her role as Operations Manager, Amber assists with long-term strategic planning, budgeting, regulatory compliance, outreach and education, and oversight of daily operations for the Landfill, Composting Facility and Hazardous Waste Collection Facility.
